Single Moms Program
The Vision
More than ever before in our society, women are left raising children alone. The emotional strain is exhausting. The financial burden heavy. So how fitting and right that The Church come in and support in word and deed our modern day widows and orphans.
How it Works
Twice a year meetings are held for mothers to hear the vision and the requirements of our program. Membership is the means to define who are "our own" . Involvement in a ministry and tithing is a qualifier for the purpose of moms staying connected to the body, and Biblically set up for God to financially bless them. Parent training, spiritual development and budgeting are some of the topics that are taught at the meetings as well. It's also a time to share needs, rejoice in victories, encourage and pray for each other.
How it's Funded
Family takes care of family, so twice a year the vision is re-cast to the congregation and 6 month pledges are made. Each session, $75-$100 is given per child, based on the number of children involved and the amount of money that is pledged for that 6 month period. If cash is suitable for the family, then a check is given each month. Some are receiving financial assistance from the government and giving cash would actually be a detriment as they would get less from that resource if they have more income. To compensate for that, these families receive Walmart gift cards in the same amount as cash.
As we send out the checks and cards each month, we always pray over them before we send them out that these resources would be a blessing to each home they go to. We pray that these children would feel loved and supported in their home and in their church, and from the reports that we get back, we know they do. Smiling children come running back to us with a excitement and a thenk you as they show off new shoes, clothes or tell of a new bike they got for a birthday.
